Board of Health
The Ohio Revise Code outlines some specific functions that the Board must carry out. These functions generally deal with the Health, Welfare and Safety of the residents of the County. The Board can establish various divisions to carry out these functions and, with the recommendation of the Health Commissioner, also has the authority to hire personnel to handle the day-to-day operations of the Health Department.
The Board of Health meets on the third Monday of each month at 6 pm. The meetings are held at the Health Department at 619 W. Marion Road, Mt. Gilead, Ohio: Visitors are welcome at any meeting. However, if you wish to address the Board, please contact the Health Commissioner at (419) 947-1545 x308 for an appointment time no later than 72 hours prior to the meeting (per Board of Health policy).
The term of a board member is 5 years. Each year in March, at the annual DAC* meeting, members are appointed. By law, the Board of Health must have a physician as a member and at least one representative from a licensing program of the district. Present members of the Board of Health are:

The District Advisory Council membership consists of the President of the Morrow County Board of Commissioners, the chief executive of each municipal corporation not constituting a city health district (mayors of cities and villages), and the chairperson of board of township trustees of each township in the Morrow County Health District.

District Licensing Council (DLC)
The board of health of each city and of each general health district may establish a health district licensing council, to be appointed by the entity that has responsibility for appointing the board of health in the health district. The members of the council shall consist of one representative of each business activity for which the board of health operates a licensing program. To be appointed and remain a member, an individual shall be a resident of the health district for which the council was created.
